The Enforcement Directorate has declared that another summons will be issued to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. On Thursday, the agency stated that they will summon Kejriwal again in relation to the money laundering case connected to the Delhi excise policy scam. This announcement comes amidst rumors that the agency would conduct a raid at Kejriwal’s residence and arrest him today.
Furthermore, the Enforcement Directorate has confirmed that they are currently examining the response filed by Kejriwal in regards to the previous summons. However, AAP leaders, including Ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, have alleged that they have received information suggesting that the Delhi Chief Minister is likely to be arrested today after the central probe agency conducts raids at his residence. In anticipation of the ED’s actions, several AAP workers have gathered outside Kejriwal’s residence this morning.
Contrary to the claims made by AAP leaders, the Enforcement Directorate has dismissed the notion of raiding Kejriwal’s residence today. According to sources within the probe agency, there are no plans to conduct such a raid.
It is worth noting that Kejriwal has already skipped three summonses, with the latest one requiring his appearance before the agency on Wednesday. In response, he sent a five-page reply to the investigating officer of the case, deeming the summons “illegal”. Kejriwal argued that the agency’s approach of non-disclosure and non-response is not in line with the principles of law, equity, or justice. He further criticized the ED for assuming the roles of judge, jury, and executioner.
Meanwhile, AAP has announced that Kejriwal will embark on a three-day tour of Gujarat from January 6 to 8. During this time, the Delhi Chief Minister will hold public rallies in the state as the party gears up for the Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, Kejriwal plans to visit MLA Chaitar Basawa in jail and meet with his family.
